Amusement Park Spending Money FAQs

 

  • Why can’t Sandy Hill hand out cash like in year’s past?
    The amusement parks we will be visiting this year are now cashless. In summers past, we have given campers cash from their store account to spend during their visit. Even though the amusement park has a few kiosks to convert cash into gift cards, this would be extremely time consuming and inconvenient for all of our campers. Therefore, cash is no longer a viable option.

  • Does my camper need to have spending money while at the amusement park?
    No. Sandy Hill has already paid for lunch, dinner and entrance fees. The spending money is just for extra items like snacks, souvenirs, and the arcades.

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of each of the options?

    • E-gift cards
      Sandy Hill will purchase, print and distribute a paper e-gift card with the designated amount for your camper. The funds will be withdrawn from their store account. There are no separate fees associated with an e-gift card. However, the e-gift card is only valid for this specific amusement park. 90 days after the last use, there may be an additional activation fee for unused funds. The e-gift card is non-refundable and non-transferrable. In other words, whatever is left over, will remain on their card and can only be used if you visit this amusement park at a future date.

    • Sandy Hill Pre-paid Visa Debit Card
      Sandy Hill will purchase, activate and distribute a plastic Visa debit card with the designated amount for your camper. All SHC Visa Debit Cards have activation fees based on the amount on the card ($3.95 for $25, $4.95 for $50 and $5.95 for $75). The funds and fees will be withdrawn from your camper’s store account. SHC Visa Debit Cards can be used at any location that accepts Visa cards, and they do not expire. In other words, whatever is left over can be used at other locations outside of the amusement park.

    • Bringing a Pre-Paid Gift Card from Home
      You may have a pre-paid (often reloadable) Visa or Mastercard gift card around the house. If your camper will be bringing a prepaid gift card, please make sure to ACTIVATE this card prior to arriving at camp. It will be very difficult to try to activate the card once your camper is at camp. Please make sure your camper’s name is written on the card in permanent marker. For security reasons, please do not send a card that is connected to your family's bank or credit card account in case it gets lost.

  • I would like my camper to have more than $75 to spend. How do I go about increasing the amusement park funds?
